The Internet is great… lots of free content and easy access to that content.

But as a publisher it could be a nightmare trying to protect your intellectual property.

Site content thieves find it so easy to simply ‘copy-n-paste’ from your site and put it up on their site with not even as much as a ‘thank you’. How can the small publisher keep on top of sites that steal and plagiarize their content?

Try http://iplagiarismcheck.com/. They have detailed reports so that you can take action, when necessary.

And they do more than just check webpages, they check databases, PDF files, and most other kinds of formats as well as doing deep-web searches.

They could save your content from piracy.

You may not have seen this before, but Internet radio has changed dramatically in the last few months with the introduction of Pandora.

Pandora allows users to create their own ’stations’ based on theme or artist. For example, I have a station called “Sting”. Sting is one of my favorite performers, so I created a station that plays his music.

But, Pandora does not just play Sting in my Sting Channel, it plays music similar to Sting then tries to ‘discover’ what music I like by allowing me to rate the music it selects “like Sting” by giving it a ‘thumbs up’ or ‘thumbs down’.

The site is supported by ad revenue, but there is an annual subscription that removes the ads for $39.

Check it out…

Pitching the next great idea to prospective business partners, investors, service providers and fellow entrepreneurs just got easier with Vator.tv—a new venture that combines online video and networking. Based on the proverbial elevator pitch—the notion that you should be able to sum up a new business venture in the few minutes it takes to ride an elevator—Vator.tv is an online marketplace for new ideas. “Anyone, across all industries, at any stage, can share ideas, products, services and businesses with the rest of the world, mainly through video.”

Here’s how it works: users sign up for a free account. They then create pitches for their ideas, projects or businesses in a rich media environment by uploading video, images, PPT or PDF files. They can choose to share their pitches with a personal network or with the entire Vator.tv community. Users build their networks by inviting friends to join or browsing through other ideas and connecting with like-minded people on the site. The website includes tips on creating compelling pitches, such as how to pack the most punch into a three-minute video clip.

Vator.tv’s revenue will likely stem from advertising and sponsorships. Launched in June 2007, Vator.tv has some big names behind it, including angel investors Peter Thiel, co-founder of PayPal, Richard Rosenblatt, former Chairman of MySpace, and Georges Harik, a former Google executive who helped build Google’s AdSense technology. What’s more, the company is already putting its money where it’s mouth is by hiring a Pakistani group of web developers who won the business through their very own video pitch. Another promising application of video technology in a Web 2.0 environment, Vator.tv is one for entrepreneurs and investors to keep their eyes on.

I found these guys by accident… I think I was surfing for something totally unrelated. I’ve never seen them advertised anywhere else, but I always wondered how those, now popular, “eBay Drop-Off” shops operate.

Well these guys make the software that makes the eBay Drop-Off shops run smooth… they keep track of inventory, who owns what, bids, commissions and the software even calculates the commissions you get and then cuts the checks to the cosigners for the net price after the auction closes.

If you ever wanted to setup your own eBay drop-off and consignment business then this is really all you need besides an eBay account and some basic computer equipment.

It’s a lot cheaper than paying $10,000 to $100,000 for an eBay drop-off shop franchise

While this site is not attractive, it is very interesting, has thousands of ideas and may hold the key to your future.

What does it do?

The site matches up those with business idea/prototypes and more with those who are looking to market hot new products or have resources or partnerships.

There are all kinds of Business ideas here, some good, some great and some really, really bad.

But if you’re an inventor and need JV partners, angel funding or VC funding this might be just right for you. On the other side of the coin, if you have resources to offer these inventors (time and/or cash) you may be able to position yourself in an equity position with a potentially fast growing product!

I would start with the directory to see what kind of ideas and inventions are available here:
http://www.business-idea.com/directory.asp

And then register is the site looks like it could be useful to your business objectives.
